Intermittent Community Work Program

The Intermittent Program gives clients the opportunity to serve their sentences on weekends, in their community, by working at select non-profit organizations throughout Niagara, rather than serving time that removes them from daily life.

Participants are able to keep any weekday employment, avoid separation from children and family, and maintain an overall sense of hope and possibility for the future.

Participating local agencies benefit as well, receiving much-needed, cost-free labour from program participants.

A pilot project when it first began, the John Howard Society of Niagara’s Intermittent Program has been operating in the Niagara justice community since 1979.
